Community Education Instructor Applicant:

Thank you for your interest in teaching a class with Bemidji Area Schools Community Education.  Teaching a class is a great way to share your knowledge and skills with youth and/or adults in our community.  We expect you to have a passion for your subject and a level of professionalism that will reflect well on our school and community.  (For classes in the health & wellness category, instructors must hold certification or appropriate degree).

If your application is accepted, you will be required to attend a class planning meeting with the program coordinator.  In addition, a background check through ISD #31 is required.   If you need assistance, or have any questions regarding the application process, please contact our office at 333-3284 X 1.

IMPORTANT!  Community Education is a community service- not a way to simply advertise your business. We reserve the right to reject or modify any classes that do not fit our guidelines.

How much is the pay?
Our instructors are both volunteer and paid positions.  We generally compensate via a percentage of class fees, or flat fee.

What will the cost of my class be?
We strive to keep our class fees as low as possible.  Class fees vary by class (type of service, amount of hours, etc.).

Where do the class fees go that are charged for my class?
Community Ed enrichment classes must be self sufficient.  We rely on class fees to support our activities.  Fees go towards:  instructor salary, publishing & mailing the Community Education Brochure, providing a website & online registration, credit card transaction fees, copies, supplies, custodial fees, and much much more.

How and when should I schedule my class?
Choose a week day(s) and time you are interested in teaching.  We will determine if facilities are available to meet your needs. We can have limited programming on Saturdays.  These classes must be wrapped up by 3:30PM, and custodial fees may be applied.  No programming will be scheduled on Sundays.  We can schedule classes off ISD31 campus, restrictions apply.  We do not hold class on election nights (regardless of the class location), or during school vacations or conferences, etc.
